These terms apply to every website, add-on, hosting plan and care plan you buy from Northern Sites. By paying a deposit, an order or a plan, you agree to them. If anything here is unclear, just ask before you pay.
1. Who we are
Northern Sites is a web design business run by Adam Crouch, based in Wallasey on the Wirral. You can reach me through the contact page. In these terms, “I”, “me” and “Northern Sites” mean the business, and “you” means the person or organisation buying from us.
2. Quotes and starting work
- Quotes are valid for 30 days.
- Our agreement starts when you pay your deposit (or the full price). I'll confirm what's included, such as the number of pages and any add-ons, by email.
- Prices are in pounds sterling. Northern Sites is not VAT registered, so no VAT is added to any of our prices.
3. Paying for your website
- Deposit: a 25% deposit books your project. Once work has started, the deposit is non-refundable.
- Paying the rest: the balance is due before your site goes live, unless you choose to spread the cost.
- Spreading the cost: if you choose 12 monthly payments, the first is taken one month after your deposit and the rest on the same date each month until all 12 are paid. These payments continue even if the site is finished early. If a payment fails and isn't made up within 14 days of a reminder, I may pause work or take the site offline until it's paid.
- Payments are taken securely by Mollie. I never see or store your card details.
4. Your content
- Please send your text, photos, logo and other details within 14 days of paying your deposit. Projects pause while waiting for content, and the launch date moves accordingly.
- If I don't hear from you for 60 days during a build, I may close the project. The deposit and any work already paid for are not refunded.
- You confirm that you own, or have permission to use, everything you send me, and that it's accurate and legal to publish.
5. Changes during the build
Every build includes two rounds of changes. Further changes, or extra pages not in your package, are charged at the add-on prices on the services page or £45 an hour, and I'll always tell you the cost first.
6. Ownership
- Once everything has been paid, you own your website's content and design, and I'll give you a copy of the site files if you ask.
- I keep the rights to my own tools, templates and code that I reuse across projects, and you get a licence to use them on your site.
- Some parts of your site may come from other companies, such as Shopify, booking tools, fonts, maps or stock photos. These are covered by those companies' own terms.
- I may show your website in my portfolio and on social media. Tell me if you'd rather I didn't.
7. Hosting and care plans
- Plans are paid monthly in advance by card through Mollie, on the same date each month.
- New websites stay on at least the Hosting plan for the first 12 months after launch. After that, you can cancel any time.
- Existing websites can cancel any time.
- To cancel, message me before your next payment date. Cancelling stops future payments; months already paid are not refunded.
- Updates: one update is a single change request that takes up to 30 minutes. Unused updates and hours don't roll over to the next month. Bigger jobs are quoted separately.
- Turnaround times on the services page are targets, not guarantees, but I'll always keep you posted.
- I may change plan prices with at least 30 days' notice by email. You can cancel before the new price applies.
8. Domain names
- Hosting includes one .co.uk or .com domain name, subject to availability. Premium domains and other endings are charged at cost.
- I register and renew the domain for you while you're on a plan.
- If you leave, I'll transfer the domain to you on request once all payments are up to date.
9. Missed payments
If a plan payment fails, I'll let you know. If it isn't made up within 14 days, I may suspend your website or updates until it's paid. I'll always give you notice first.
10. Search results
Every site is built to follow Google's guidelines and best practice for search and AI search. Rankings depend on Google, competitors and many things outside my control, so I can't guarantee any particular position or number of enquiries.
11. Responsibility
- I'll do the work with reasonable care and skill.
- I'm not responsible for losses caused by things outside my control, including outages at hosting, payment or other third-party services, or for indirect losses such as lost profits or business.
- My total responsibility to you is limited to the amount you've paid me in the 12 months before the problem arose.
- Nothing in these terms limits responsibility for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited by law.
12. If you're buying as a consumer
Most clients buy for their business. If you're buying as an individual rather than a business, you have the right to cancel within 14 days of paying. If you ask me to start work within those 14 days, you'll pay for the work done up to the point you cancel. This doesn't affect your other legal rights.
13. Your information
I only use your details to provide my services and to contact you about them. See the privacy policy for more.
14. Acceptable use
Everyone using the websites, email and other services we host or manage must follow our acceptable use policy, which forms part of these terms. We may suspend or end services if it is broken.
15. Changes to these terms
I may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page when you pay is the one that applies to that order.
16. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
